Jimi Hendrix – The Original Experience
Anyone who ever saw him in person never forgot it. Hendrix broke new ground both as a player and producer. He was one of the first to use phasing effects and stereo recording on a rock album.
Beginning with his success in Europe, he came to America and his popularity exploded after the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. Hendrix headlined the Woodstock Festival of 1969 and continues to be a striking influence on Rock Music to this day.
A master showman, Hendrix was known to play the guitar with his teeth, behind his back, while lying on the floor and just about any way he could think of. He would often set his guitar on fire by pouring lighter fluid on it as somewhat of a symbolic sacrifice.
Hendrix also loved to explore feedback and its different textures by holding the guitar close to the amp at different angles to enhance feedback and sustain.
Enjoy this compilation of several performances.
